Summer Open Ice Information

Looking for a way to stay on the ice this summer?  Join us for our open ice sessions to keep those skills strong all summer long!  There will be no group lessons offered, private lessons are available by reaching out to our wonderful SCLP Coaching Staff!

On Ice Director Responsibilities

The following duties are to be shared with the Off-Ice Program Co-Director:

  • Assist with holiday show as it relates to skater registration, marketing & promotion, email notifications, set-up, and arena ice coordination.  Directors may earn hourly rate for help outside of duties listed above
  • Attend board meetings
  • Provide weekly reports during LTS programming and monthly reports outside of programming
  • Coordinate annual banquet
  • Coordinate annual skate-a-thon
  • Assist with SCLP test sessions

The following duties are the full responsibility of the On-Ice Co-Director:

Coaches Schedules:

  • Maintains schedule of coaches’ availability
  • Schedules coaches as needed for group lessons and communicates schedule to coaches
  • Organizes coaches on ice group assignments based on the needs of that particular session

Daily Responsibilities

  • Available for all on-ice group classes 4 days/week plus coffee club check-in
  • Responsible for gathering teaching tools
    • markers/stickers, level signs, toys/beanie babies
  • Maintains master evaluation sheets for all group classes
    • Monitors skaters movement/progress and provides early assessment when needed
    • Completes pre-evaluations & final evaluations (with assistance of off-ice co-director)
  • Maintains organization of clipboards-attendance sheets for each group
  • Assigns lanes for classes based on class size and need
  • Set up table each night with all materials needed for coaches & parents
  • Monitor coaches & keep classes safe and on task as needed
  • Organize advanced skaters as helpers
  • Handle all skate & helmet rentals
  • Coordinate skate sharpening as requested
  • Submit weekly coaching hours to off-ice co-director

Communication:

  • Update hotline with weekly schedule, cancelations and reminders
  • Coordinates ice time with arena management
  • Arena parent communication before and after group classes

Competition Coordinator:

  • Set-up of registration desk for all SCLP sanctioned competitions
  • Coordinate all volunteers for competitions
    • Ice monitors, music players, announcers, runners, registration desk, etc.
  • Communicate competition schedule to volunteers
  • Work with arena office for other competition needs

Programming:

  • Assist with creating new programs for SCLP (on or off-ice)
  • Coordinate with arena office for already established SCLP programs
    • Communicate with the board for staffing needs and scheduling

Off Ice Director Responsibilities

The following duties are to be shared with the On-Ice Program Co-Director:

  • Assist with holiday show as it relates to skater registration, marketing & promotion, email notifications, set-up, and arena ice coordination.  Directors may earn hourly rate for help outside of duties listed above
  • Attend board meetings

The following duties are the full responsibility of the Off-Ice Co-Director:

Social Media:

  • Update website with current information
    • Program information and forms, weekly schedule, upcoming events, board meeting information, coaches’ info
  • Update SCLP Facebook page
  • Email updates and notifications to parents, skaters, and the Board
  • Maintain accurate yearly basic skills database
  • Updates to online registration (i.e. - Blue Sombrero)
    • Current program registration options, general information, news
    • Compiles skater registration information for each session
  • Updates to SCLP Bulletin Board
    • Program information, upcoming test sessions or competitions, etc.

Marketing Materials

  • Creates all marketing materials
    • Inclusive of school fliers, holiday show, skate-a-thon, current programs, registrations forms
    • Forms include: Basics/tots, bridge, adults, open freestyle, learn to compete, synchro

Coaches Compliance:

  • Collect coaches’ contracts, insurance, and compliance information yearly
  • Follow up on non-compliant coaches
  • Assist coaches in the coaching compliance process
  • Maintain current list of coaches and contact information to provide skaters
  • Submit weekly payroll
  • Communicate sanction requirements for all shows, competitions and events to SCLP President

Programming:

  • Assist On-Ice Co-Director with on & off ice programs
  • Coordinate Learn to Compete program
